Let’s Start!

Difference in purpose of sauna at night and sauna in the morning

When most of you hear of public bathhouses and saunas, you probably think of nighttime.

This is probably because most people think of saunas as something to be entered at the end of the day to relieve the day’s fatigue.

Therefore, I believe that the purpose of sauna at night is to “improve the quality of sleep” and the purpose of sauna in the morning is to “make the day ahead more meaningful.

I believe that the purpose of sauna in the morning is to “make the day ahead more meaningful.

Studies have shown that taking a sauna at night exhausted the brain and body, speeding up sleep onset and doubling the duration of deep sleep.
See the article below for more info!

On the other hand, taking a sauna in the morning can make you sleepy as hell.

In fact, there have been reports and studies showing that taking a sauna in the morning improves comfort during the day and reduces fatigue that would otherwise accumulate.

How to take the sauna in the morning and at night

How to take a sauna for beginer

This is a common basic sauna entry at night, which consists of 3-4 sets of sauna, water bath, and external air bath (internal air bath).

For a basic sauna routine, see left article!

In contrast, the morning sauna does not go in as solidly. If you do three sets in the morning, you will feel sleepy even though you are about to start working.

The key to morning sauna is to avoid prolonged periods of sauna, water bath, and external air bath (internal air bath).

If you prolong the duration of these activities, the switch between sympathetic nerves (nerves that work in a non-relaxed state) and parasympathetic nerves (nerves that work in a relaxed state) will increase.

This will cause a large increase in the parasympathetic nervous system after getting out of the bath, which will improve peripheral blood flow and lead to drowsiness.

Example: 1 minute in the bathtub (water shower in summer) → 5 minutes in the sauna → 10 seconds in the water bath → lukewarm shower → end (no external air bath) → drink a good coffee lol.

This is the morning sauna routine of Dr. Yasutaka Kato, the president of the Japan Sauna Society, a doctor, and the author of “A Doctor’s Guide to Sauna. (Source: “A Doctor’s Textbook on Sauna”, p. 146)

Detail is here

I do a 5 minute sauna→a momentary water bath→and then an outside air bath (short).
Roughly one or two sets in the morning sauna is preferred.

In this way, I shorten or skip each phase in the sauna and do the morning sauna.
You don’t want to be sleepy before work, so try this on your off mornings to create your own morning sauna routine!

Morning and one-hour courses are less expensive

As mentioned above, the morning sauna is based on one or two sets. Each phase is also shorter in time, so the time spent in the facility will be much shorter.

Since sauna facilities in Japan charge different rates depending on the time of day, you will naturally be able to take a one-hour course, and the price will be much cheaper compared to night saunas (2-3 hours)!

Conclusion

How was it? For non-sauners, taking a sauna in the morning is unimaginable and incomprehensible!

However, those who know about this still minor activity of “morning sauna” are already achieving results at work and becoming “capable businesspersons”.

The key to morning sauna is to keep it short, right? Customize your own morning sauna routine! You are now one step closer to becoming a pro-sauner!

If you are worried about the expense of a morning sauna, you could even do a hot/cold alternating bath in your bath at home!

Take a morning sauna and get ahead!
